Lois Deloatch, MA - Special Advisor

Lois Deloatch’s career spans more than two decades in the arts, philanthropy and community development. She has held administrative and leadership positions at UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University and North Carolina Central University. In 2013, she founded Northampton Partners, LLC, a consulting firm committed to supporting people and organizations seeking to make a positive impact through service and philanthropy. Currently, she works as major gifts officer for the Center for Responsible Lending, a national nonprofit working to promote fair financial practices.

 

Deloatch is also a professional vocalist and songwriter specializing in jazz, blues and spirituals. She has toured the United States and internationally, and she has five recordings as leader. The Northampton County, North Carolina native holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill and the Master of Arts from Duke University. She is married to Edward Gomes, Jr. and has an adult son, Kevin Deloatch Dawson.

Audrey Hardy, MSN, RN, - Advisor

Audrey Hardy has over 30 years of experience as a licensed Registered Nurse and ten years of experience as a Nursing Instructor in the State of North Carolina. She has worked as an Occupational Health Nurse, Nurse Supervisor and Staff Nurse. Currently, she works as a Staff Educator and Community Health Initiative Coordinator at the Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Audrey provides staff education and facilitates and provides health and wellness community outreach in her role. Ms. Hardy is very active both in professional organizations including the American Nurses Association, the North Carolina Nurses Association, North Carolina A & T State University Nursing Alumni, serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Medical Office Systems program for Halifax Community College. She truly demonstrates her love for community involvement as an active member of Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church where she is a member of the Deaconess Board, Choir President, Youth Advisor, and member of the Women’s Lift Ministry. She also serves as the Co-Chair of Garysburg Area Wide-Health Committee, serves on Hannah’s Place Domestic Violence Shelter Board of Directors and is a former Garysburg Town Commissioner. Ms. Hardy received her Bachelors of Nursing Degree from A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She also enjoys reading, gardening, and sports. She is the proud mother of two sons, in addition to three grandchildren.  this item about? What makes it interesting? Kadijah Powell-Brooks - Youth Advisor

Kadijah Powell-Brooks is a well-known student at Northampton County High School in Gaston, North Carolina. She is ranked #3 in her junior class and is very passionate about her education. She was born and raised in Trenton, NJ; moving to Virginia (age 11) then North Carolina (age 13). Kadijah serves as the youth adviser for GBDF.

 

Striving for greatness, Kadijah is a strong believer that Education Comes First! She enjoys reading books, solving math problems, and writing poetry-- she occasionally likes to draw pictures too. With her position as Battalion Commander in the JROTC program at Northampton County High School, Kadijah is highly recognized for her strong leadership and communication skills. She also participates in plenty of other extracurricular activities such as varsity girls basketball, marching band (where she has played over 3 instruments), and the Beta club. 

 

Although having many amazing accomplishments, Kadijah remains humble and grounded; maintaining that altruistic personality that she was raised into. Living in the Roanoke Valley area for almost 4 years, Kadijah continues to adapt to the southern culture and impact as many lives as she can in not only her school, but her community as well.
