College Tours and Exposure to Health-Related Programs of Study
Visits to the North Carolina Central University BRITE Program
GBDF has planned and sponsored visits for high school students to the North Carolina Central University’s (NCCU) Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE). BRITE is created specifically to train the next generation of biotechnology scientists and expand NC’s already booming biotech industry.
Since 2014, GBDF has coordinated, planned and chaperoned groups of students from Northampton and Halifax County School for a total of 5 BRITE visits. Students also participated in campus tours and experienced eating in the campus cafeteria. Click here for an article posting.
Visits to the University of NC-Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Health and the School of Allied Health
Juniors and seniors from Northampton County participated in a day long program that exposed them to programs in the UNC-CH Gillings School of Global Health and areas of study in the School of Allied Health. Students also listened to engaging presentations from the UNC-CH Admissions Office followed by a Campus tour.
